Tea for Weight Loss?

All types of tea have been proven over and over to have a broad range of health benefits.  From heart health to improved cognitive function, Tea has always been an all star.  But weight loss?  I recently came across an article titled "The 5 Best Teas for Weight Loss" and it made me smile.  What I love to drink on a daily basis also reduces my muffin top (that would be the roll of fat hanging over my belt for you skinny people)!

Here are a few excerpts from the article:

  • Green Tea: "In a recent study, participants who combined a daily habit of 4-5 cups of green tea each day with a 25-minute sweat session lost two more pounds than the non tea-drinking exercisers."
  • Oolong Tea: "A study in the Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicinefound that participants who regularly sipped on oolong tea lost six pounds over the course of six-week time period. That’s a pound a week!"
  • White Tea: "A study published in the journal Nutrition and Metabolism showed that white tea can simultaneously boost lipolysis (the breakdown of fat) and block adipogenesis (the formation of fat cells)[...]"
  • Rooibos: "What makes rooibos tea particularly good for your belly are powerful compounds, namely the flavanoid Aspalathin, that research shows can prevent stress hormone imbalances[...]"

Bottom line is this, the tea we love is good for our waistline.

Sweet!
