Earl Grey Lavender Cocktail

This liquored luxury will have you sipping summer's rays away.

Sophisticated. Refreshing. Undeniably. You may have just found your new favorite tea cocktail.

Really though, it's just that good!

A friend who has bourgeoisie tastes in boozy drinks even said it was tasty and went back for round two. Or three... Or four. I would say that that is a testament to its flavor!

It takes a bit of preparation, but the results cannot be denied - they are wonderful. It's sweet to the taste, and the floral notes of the tea and lavender are smoothly hinted in the aftertaste. Earl Grey and lavender have been a dynamic pair in the past, but here we see the extent of their symbiotic flavors! Now you may have the perfect excuse to throw a tea- I mean cockta- I mean tea cocktail party!

- 1 cup water

- 1 cup + 1/4 cup sugar

- 3 tbsp of Organic Earl Grey

- 3 tbsp + 1 1/2 tbsp dried lavender flowers

- 2 shots vodka of choice (I used Crater Lake Vodka for this one) per drink

- 1/2 cup ice

- 1 tbsp lemon juice per drink (if using fresh squeezed, it equals about 1/2 a lemon per drink)

Earl Grey Lavender simple syrup:

1.) In a pan, combine water, 1 cup sugar, Organic Earl Grey, 3 tbsp dried lavender, and stir. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and let simmer for 5 minutes.

2.) Remove from heat and let steep until room temperature. Using a strainer, strain into a jar and refrigerate (mixture can be refrigerated up to two weeks).

Lavender rim sugar:

3.) In a blender or food processor, combine 1/4 cup sugar and 1 1/2 tbsp lavender and pulse until well blended. Store unused portion in an airtight container.

Earl Grey Lavender Vodka Cocktail:

4.) Pour a smidge of vodka onto a plate, and another smidge of lavender sugar on a separate plate. Dip the mouth of a glass into the vodka, and roll the edge in the lavender sugar to coat the mouth of the glass.

5.) Using a cocktail shaker, combine ice, vodka, 5 spoonfuls of the lavender simple syrup (per drink), and lemon juice, shaking well to mix. Strain into a glass, and garnish with a lemon wedge (maybe even a cocktail umbrella, too!)

 Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy!

Just a sip of this suave mixture will definitely brighten your day; you just wait and see. As always, remember to drink responsibly!
