This recipe is for the hot chocolate lovers who want to add a little extra goodness into their winter treat. This is prebiotic hot chocolate. It combines all the cozy goodness of a creamy hot chocolate with the wellness benefits of herbs to support gut health. Adding herbs as a base to the drinks you are already making is a great way to incorporate extra wellness and self care into your routine. Not to mention, it is also a great way to incorporate unique flavors. 


What is the difference between a prebiotic and a probiotic?

  • Probiotics are the live microorganisms like bacteria that support digestion and immune function.
  • Prebiotics are fibers that feed the good bacteria in your gut. 

Let's dive into making this Prebiotic Hot Chocolate recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 2 Teaspoons Prebiotic tea 
  • ¾ cup water 

  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder 

  • 1-2 teaspoons maple syrup 

  • ¼ cup almond milk (unsweetened) 

  • Optional: Cinnamon  

Directions:

  • Steep two teaspoons of prebiotic tea in ¾ cup of hot water

  • Let steep for 5 minutes, strain out the leaves then add maple syrup. 

  • Stir in 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder. 

  • Add ½ cup of steamed almond milk, stir again

  • Top with cinnamon or a dash of cocoa powder

  • Enjoy!
