2 ounces of tea and other frequently asked questions

We've received a few questions on the measurements of tea, tea weights, and other questions about tea quantities. We hope to highlight a few of the questions here!

What does two ounces of tea look like?

Two ounces of tea varies by the actual tea itself – as some teas are denser than others. Highlighted in the photos below, you can see the differences between white tea, rooibos tea, and black tea. Generally, two ounces of tea will make you a delicious cup every day for a month!

How much loose tea should I steep?

The industry standard is one teaspoon of loose tea per 8 ounces. So if you're looking to steep a twelve-ounce cup of tea – look to steep approximately 1 1/2 teaspoons of loose tea.

How come some bags are fuller than others?

Because of the density of tea, some bags may seem to have more tea than others; however, all our teas are carefully measured before they're sealed and shipped.
