When you are new to loose leaf tea, sometimes it can be tricky figuring out how to make a cup of tea. Because loose leaf tea does not come prepackaged in tea bags, it can be made in many different ways!
In this post we explain 3 different ways to make loose leaf tea.
1. Making tea for one? Use an infuser or steeping ball.
Perhaps the most common way to make loose leaf tea is using a steeping ball or tea infuser. Simply open the infuser, add 1 teaspoon of tea, and then close the infuser and place it in your mug. Pour in 8 ounces of hot water, and let the tea steep for the recommended amount of time. Pull out the infuser and set it aside, and your tea is ready to drink! The Full Leaf Signature Leaf Infuser, pictured above, works great and is very easy to use and clean!
2. Making tea for more than one? Use a teapot or french press.
A teapot and french press are both big enough to brew more then one cup of tea at once. If you are unsure of how much tea to use in your pot or french press, you can calculate it by knowing that for every 8 ounces of water you will want to use 1 teaspoon of tea. So for example, if the capacity of your teapot is 24 ounces, you would use 3 teaspoons of tea.
A french press has a built in infuser which makes it easy to strain the tea leaves as you pour out the freshly brewed tea. Some teapots have built in infusers but not all do. If your teapot does not have a built infuser, one option would be to use our Natural Paper Drawstring Tea Bags with the teapot.
3. Do you prefer iced tea? Use this easy cold brewing method.
Cold brewing is the easiest way to make iced tea. Simply let the tea steep overnight in your fridge in a pitcher of cold water, and in the morning wake up to delicious iced tea!
Fill a 1 gallon pitcher with cold filtered water, and then add 1 tablespoon of tea each to 5 of our Natural Paper Drawstring Tea Bags. (If your pitcher has a built-in infuser, you will not need the drawstring bags.) Immerse the tea bags in the water, and then place the pitched inside your fridge. Let steep over night. In the morning, pour the tea over fresh ice and enjoy!
You can also cold brew iced tea using our Vacuum Flask Tea Infuser. Just place 1 tsp of tea with cold water and ice underneath the strainer, and enjoy! Your tea will get stronger and stronger throughout the day!
