A New Tradition
Out of the many traditions people bring into the new year — eating 12 grapes at midnight, wearing symbolic colors, or even a kiss at midnight — the theme has always been starting the new year right. Setting resolutions for the new year is common, but something just as important is often dismissed; setting intentions.
In many traditions, food and drink have become an important symbol of new beginnings during the beginning of a new year. Setting intentions using symbolism is a great way to trick your brain into needing to achieve your goals. By drinking a tea at midnight, and setting the intentions you aim to achieve, you will be reminded of those intentions every time you drink it. Whether you crave a fresh start, aim to find love, or become more successful, there is a tea to remind you of each and every goal before your new year starts.
Fresh Start
More than anything else, you may just want to be rid of what has happened in the past and move on — a complete fresh start for the new year. There is one thing most people looking for a fresh start are no stranger to, and that is stress. To naturally relieve that stress is to allow yourself a new beginning.
Lavender is a flower well-known for its stress relieving properties and has been used for thousands of years for its fragrant smell and skin benefits. The word lavender comes from the latin verb lavare, which means 'to wash', as it was often used during bathing in ancient Rome.
Throughout history it has been used to soothe upset stomachs, heal wounds, assist as an insect repellent, create fragrant perfumes, and to promote relaxation. In a 2005 study, it was even proved to reduce anxiety in dental patients.
Stress is often what limits people from truly beginning the year fresh and unburdened. It is often difficult to abandon stress, especially when those stressors follow you into the new year. Setting the intention of a fresh start by being gentle and kind to yourself before moving into a new beginning can be the most important piece of letting go.
Our Organic Relieve Stress Tea includes ingredients such as Organic Lavender, Organic Rooibos, Organic Passion Flower, Organic Lemon Balm, and Organic Holy Basil.
Confidence
Self-love, conviction, confidence — words often thrown around at the beginning of the year. These are all feelings you yourself may have wanted to achieve at the beginning of the year last year, or in years before. There is one important ingredient that may help remind you of the strength and love needed to achieve these things: rosehips.
Once thought to cure the bite of rabid dogs, and earning the name the dog rose, rosehips from the rosa canina bush have been used in traditional medicine dating back to ancient Greece. It was even used in World War II as a natural source of vitamin c when fruits were hard to come by. Rose hips are anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, have many skin health benefits, assist with cardiovascular health, and have been known to strengthen the stomach. It has been used both orally and topically in many beauty products. Marmalade, syrup, oils, and tea are just a few of many ways rosehips can be used in today's society.
Confidence starts from within, and giving yourself the time to detox and strengthen your body with rosehips may just be the best way to start your year. Strength — and confidence in that strength — can truly be the best way to set the intention of being more confident.
Our Organic Detox Tea is a great way to start the year with confidence and release any negativity and toxins held in your body before the new year. With ingredients like Organic Holy Basil, Organic Spearmint, Organic Linden Leaf, Organic Lemon Verbena, and especially Organic Rose Hips, this blend is perfect for detoxifying and rejuvenating both body and mind.
Health
If there is one aspect that people usually forget when it comes to taking care of themselves, it would be recovery. The body and brain needs time to recover from a long day at work, a workout, a socially draining event, a night of drinking, and even friend and family outings. If your goal for the new year is to be more healthy, you may want to consider making space in your daily routine for recovery.
Milk thistle has long been known as a liver defense and cleanser. It has been referenced for centuries, most famously in Naturalis Historia, a book by the Roman naturalist Pliny the Elder. Used in the past for liver support, digestive issues, gallbladder support, and detoxification — milk thistle is a versatile plant relied upon for thousands of years. Today, it is even sited as a cure for hangovers!
Along with Organic Milk Thistle, the Organic Recovery Tea includes Organic Green Tea, Organic Ginger Root, Organic Peppermint, Organic Turmeric, and Organic Fennel. A blend crafted for rehydration and rejuvenation. To truly recover and restart the new year refreshed and recharged, drinking this tea might just be the best way to set the intention of taking care of yourself — especially if you spent the new year's eve celebrating.
Setting Intentions
When choosing what intention you want to set for the new year, try to consider the following:
How do my intentions align with my goals?
How will setting an intention positively affect the way I live now?
Where can I fit in time to commit to my intentions every day?
No matter what intention you set for the year, don't forget to allow yourself the time to reflect, relax, and recharge every day, and maybe enjoy a cup of tea. Happy New Year!
