Matcha Grades on the Plant

Which one is right for you?

The best way to pick out your perfect matcha is by determining how you plan on preparing the matcha.

Method #1

Whisking matcha with hot water.

This is the traditional way to make matcha. 1/2 teaspoon of matcha and 4 ounces of hot water are whisked together using a special bamboo whisk. If you do not have a bamboo whisk, you can also mimic this by shaking the ingredients up in a reusable water bottle.

Ceremonial Matcha

Ceremonial Matcha is our highest grade of matcha overall. This means it is the smoothest tasting. It is a beautiful vibrant green color.
Ceremonial Matcha is ideal for making traditional matcha with hot water and a bamboo whisk.

How much does it cost?
Our standard 1.5 oz tin is $29.95 (approximately 40 servings).

Organic Premium Matcha

Organic Premium Matcha is our highest grade of USDA Organic certified matcha. It is a vibrant green color and is smooth tasting.
Organic Premium Matcha is perfect for whisking a traditional cup of matcha or for making a frothy matcha latte.

How much does it cost?
Our standard 1.5 oz tin is $29.95 (approximately 40 servings).

Premium Matcha

Premium Matcha is our middle grade of matcha. It is great for whisking a traditional cup of matcha or for making a frothy matcha latte. It is also a little cheaper so it would be a fine choice for use in baking or smoothies.

How much does it cost?
Our standard 1.5 oz tin is $24.95 (approximately 40 servings).

Culinary and Organic Culinary Matcha

Culinary matcha is specifically designed to be used in recipes and baking. Culinary Matcha is made using the leaves that are not selected for Ceremonial or Premium Matcha. This is why it is the least expensive option.
If you prepared Culinary Matcha with a bamboo whisk and hot water, you would notice it is not quite as smooth and has a more vegetal flavor. When matcha is baked or used in a recipe it uses some of its flavor profile. Because of this and its low price point, Culinary Matcha is the perfect choice for all of your baking needs.

How much does it cost?
Our Culinary Matcha 4 oz Bag is $41.95 (approximately 110 servings).
Our Organic Culinary Matcha 4 oz Bag is $51.95 (approximately 110 servings).

Organic Sweet Matcha

Sweet matcha is matcha that has been pre-sweetened. We use organic cane sugar to sweeten the matcha, creating a perfect blend for matcha lattes.

If you are new to matcha, sweet matcha can be a great way to get used to the smooth umami flavor of matcha. Sweet matcha is versatile and works great when prepared with a bamboo whisk or when added to a latte or smoothie.

We have a variety of sweet matcha flavors such as, cinnamon, cocoa, and chia. We also have a sweet matcha blend with guarana added for a extra energy boost, and another blend with the superfood wheatgrass. Looking for the original? Check out our classic Organic Sweet Matcha Original. (Also available in a cheaper non-organic version.)
